The Oxford University Newcomers' Club was set up to help newly-arrived partners of newly appointed academic and administrative staff, visiting scholars and graduate students to meet one another and members of the local community. This culturally diverse group, run by volunteers, holds weekly coffee mornings in central Oxford and organises a range of special interest groups, including careers, English conversation sessions, and a parent and toddler playgroup. The Newcomers' Club runs a mailing list where you can buy or sell items, ask for recommendations of local services, or arrange to meet up informally with other members. It also provides careers support through its Opportunities in Oxford group, and can provide referrals for more personalised career advice sessions with Lara Hayward, the designated adviser at the Careers Service.

The Newcomers' Club holds coffee mornings on Wednesday from 10:30 - 12:00 at the University Club on Mansfield Road. (NB There will be no coffee morning on Wedensday 27 December 2017.)
